Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Stannard McKinnon Consultancy Ltd, trading as Graeme Kerr Consulting ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on graemekerr.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

This policy is designed to comply with the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the EU ePrivacy Directive, and applicable US state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies — such as local storage, session storage, and pixels — work in comparable ways and are covered by this policy.

2. Categories we use

We group cookies and similar technologies into three categories:

  • Strictly necessary (essential) — required for the site to function, such as remembering your cookie preferences, supporting security features, and routing requests. These are always on and do not require consent under UK/EU law.
  • Analytics (optional) — anonymous or pseudonymous usage data that helps us understand which pages are useful and how to improve the site. Only set if you opt in.
  • Marketing (optional) — used to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Only set if you opt in. We do not currently use marketing cookies.

3. Cookies currently set on this site

We keep this list minimal. At present the site uses only the following:

NameTypePurposeDuration
gk_cookie_consent_v1Essential (local storage)Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again on every visit.Persistent until cleared
_gaAnalytics (Google Analytics 4)Distinguishes unique visitors so we can measure aggregate site usage. Only set if you opt in.2 years
_ga_1RXT150WBNAnalytics (Google Analytics 4)Persists session state for our specific GA4 property. Only set if you opt in.2 years

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate site usage. GA4 is loaded only after you opt in to the Analytics category, with IP anonymisation enabled and Google Signals / ad personalisation disabled. Data is processed by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd as our processor. See Google's privacy policy.

Other third parties such as Google (when you use the embedded booking calendar) and our hosting provider may also set their own strictly necessary cookies when you interact with their embedded content. We do not control these — please refer to their own cookie policies.

4. Third-party embedded content

Our contact page embeds Google's appointment scheduling tool so you can book a call. When that iframe loads, Google may set cookies governed by its own policies, including its terms and privacy notices. We load this content only when you visit the contact page.

5. Your choices

When you first visit the site you'll see a consent banner with three equally prominent options: Accept all, Reject all, and Customise. Non-essential cookies are off by default and are only set if you actively opt in.

You can change your choice at any time:

  • Use the (also available via "Cookie settings" in the footer).
  • Clear cookies and site data in your browser to be re-prompted.
  • Manage cookies through your browser settings — see aboutcookies.org for help.

Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working as intended.

6. US residents — sale and sharing

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of sale/sharing where applicable.

7. Do Not Track

Our site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because there is no consistent industry standard. You can still control non-essential cookies via the controls above.

8. Changes to this policy

If we add new cookies or change how we use them, we'll update this page and, where required, re-request your consent through the banner.
