The Process

Stage 1 - Initial Free Consultation

I offer an hour’s free consultation to every business no matter the size or where they are based in the world. Firstly as I believe it is a good way to get a high level overview of a business and its challenges and secondly because its a good way to get to know the people behind the business and ensure there is a good fit on both sides.

This is a free no obligation video call which either results in moving to the next stage or if we find that the fit isn’t right or I don’t believe I can add the value the client needs then we part on good terms having learned a bit more about each other’s business which I always find interesting.

Often if someone needs help in an area I can’t add value, I know someone from my global network that can, so its rare for someone to leave this call with no benefit.

 

Stage 2 - Discovery

This is the vital part of the process and involves a deep dive into your business to identify what works well, what needs to be improved and where the opportunities are for growth and efficiency.

This could involve half a day up to 10 days depending on the size and complexity of the business. I will need time with you and/or your team if you have one, and may need access to information, data and research the market and competitor landscape to understand how I can then add value.

The outcome of this are documented findings with an attached proposal for how we tackle the next stage, stage 3. This stage depending what we discuss and uncover during discovery will either result in a Non-Exec, Advisory or Consultancy recommendation. This very much is tailored to each business to meet its needs and is designed to be flexible.

Stage 3 - Non-exec, Advisor or Consulting?

Digital Non-Executive Director

There is a real lack of digital expertise at board level in most businesses. Often it is seen as an add-on to someone on the board’s existing role however it is too important in the current climate not to have this level of expertise to help guide the business. A Digital Non-Exec is therefore the best solution for most businesses as you get that expertise but don’t need to justify a full time position and I can guarantee you’ll get more value and insight than if you just asked an existing director to take on this role.

Digital Advisor

Some businesses don’t need or want something as formal as a Non-Exec Director but they do still want the expertise that someone with my experience can offer. I can work in a very similar way for these businesses, just without the formality and regulatory aspects.

Digital Consulting

I also work more hands-on with some clients. Perhaps there are specific project based issues they need help with; they are reviewing and looking to improve their websites or online technologies; perhaps they need to strategise about their current in-house capabilities or have issues with external suppliers. Sometimes internal teams are just too stretched and need some short term help, or need an external pair of eyes to help them see the wood from the trees. I have a wealth of experience across digital and can help with most projects a client needs and can so so on a flexible basis to be as involved as required.
